Logos and Finds
Posts, drafts, pictures and statistics.
Read and update geodata
Access: geocache data sheet → "Logs". In the list you can read the entries belonging to the geocache. You can request an update by dragging the log list down, and older logs can be loaded by scrolling down. When you open a post with images, you can view the images of the log.
In the log image viewer, you can zoom in with two fingers, and you can reverse the paging order by tapping the image counter. Details a Geocaches chapter LADA-06 on the subject.
"Settings → Cache data → Log list refresh limit" defines the log amount requested when updating and also counts for batch datasheet download. Offline, already downloaded entries can be used; you need a connection to download newer logos.
Create a new post
Condition: geocaching.hu login. You can start a new logo with the pencil button of the "Logs" tab of the geocache or the add button of the "My Logs" page of the main menu.
- Check the geocache code. If you started the logo from the geocache, the code is pre-filled.
- Select the type, date and time.
- Enter the text of the entry and the password required for the chosen type.
- Fill out the environment, hide and web assessment as needed and attach pictures.
- Tap "Send" or save draft.
The log type can be, for example, found, not found, found without a password or other. The server also checks the submission conditions separately. A new log cannot be written to a closed geocache; the previously submitted own log can be modified.
Date, time and password details
Tapping on the date and time field of the log editor opens a selector. In the time selector, "OK" is fixed, "Cancel" discards the given choice. Before submitting, check the date, especially for records of previous trips.
If you have saved password details for the points of the geocache, you can compile the password with the concatenation icon at the top of the new log. When editing an already submitted log, the type and password fields are not available in the same way as with a new entry.
Template sentences and the text of the last log
With the "Log templates" button, you can match the set templates to the text. You can edit the default log text and template sentences on the "Settings → Logs" page.
In the "Template sentences" field, write each optional text on a separate line. Empty lines will not be separate templates. The template selected in the log editor is placed at the end of the already written text; you can edit the entire post together before submitting.
"Repeat last log" is displayed if the app has previous log text. The action helps reuse text; check the content and data of the current geocache before submitting.
Save and submit a draft
If you want to submit the post later, check the option "Draft (submit later)" and then choose save. The draft has not yet been submitted to the geocaching.hu-log, so it does not represent a server-side recording of the find.
The draft can appear on the page "My Logs" and among the logs of the affected geocache with the marking "DRAFT". You can continue the submission process or delete the draft with the action "Submit" from the draft menu. A confirmation is displayed when deleting.
The draft also preserves the added images and captions, which are loaded back into the editor when the submission continues. Saving the draft does not yet upload the images to geocaching.hu.
Attaching and captioning images
In the "Upload images" section of the log editor, tap the add image button. In the native mobile app, you can choose camera or gallery; a file selector opens in the browser. System permission may be required to use the camera and gallery.
You can enter a caption by tapping on the preview of the selected images, and you can remove them before sending with the delete action. Uploading images is a network operation; a successful selection does not in itself mean the completion of the upload.
JPEG and HEIC/HEIF images can be used for file selection in the browser, multiple files can be selected. The app converts HEIC/HEIF images to JPEG for uploading. Uploading a PNG file is not supported by this interface.
Modification of own log and uploaded log image
You can open the menu of your own entry on the "My Logs" page or in the log list of the geocache. "Modify" opens the editor, "Delete" confirms.
After opening the images of the log, "Edit caption" and "Delete image" are available in the image menu of your own image. If the app indicates a missing image ID, update the logos and then try the image operation again.
Own log list and search
Access: main menu → "My Logs". Without a Geocaching.hu login, the site asks for login. You can download your own posts with the upper right update icon, you can search in the list with the magnifying glass. Tapping on the geocache code will open the relevant geocache.
Updating your own log list updates the list of entries. The app downloads the location mark on the map separately, when logging in and when updating the geocache list. Therefore, a missing log and a missing find mark may require a different update step.
Log statistics
Statistics can be opened with the chart icon on the "My Logs" page. The aggregator is based on downloaded own logos; in case of incomplete data, first update the log list.
The page can display a breakdown by log type and geocache type, number of image logs and images, annual and monthly breakdown, activity calendar, current and longest series, best day/month/year, and finding milestones. If there is not enough data, this is indicated on the interface.
Submit without internet or valid login
When offline, you can queue supported log submission and deletion operations in the app and retry when the connection is restored. The pending task can be seen on the page "Settings → Developer log → Queue". Queuing is not the same as an already accepted entry.
If the geocaching.hu token has expired, a new login may be required. Re-login associated with the submission preserves the edited logo and resumes saving after login.
