The difference between a visit and a geosite

A site visit logs a visit to a supported map point of interest to your Geoládák cloud storage account. A geoládalog is an entry on geocaching.hu for a geoládalog. Fixing one does not replace the other.

Not all map categories can be visited: supported attractions and natural points have the function. In the Places panel, the categories that support the visit can be marked separately. In the case of SOTA/POTA, personal fulfillment comes from callsign activation, not from a visit.

Record site visit

Conditions: logged in Geoládák cloud storage account, supported location, adequate proximity and GPS accuracy, and current category information.

  1. On the map, open the data window of the location and select "Visiting".
  2. Leave the time of the visit as "Now".
  3. Check the proximity and location signal.
  4. Write a comment as desired, then tap "Record visit".

The interface indicates if you need to go even closer or if your location is inaccurate. The acceptance area for each category may differ; start from the visible sign. In the case of outdated category data, the app may first request an update, which you can start with the option "Refresh now".

Retrospective recording of a previous visit

On the "Visiting" panel, select "Earlier" and enter the day of the visit. You can also write a comment here. The recording of the previous visit does not require proof of the current location proximity.

The post-recorded visit will appear in "Discovered places", but will not count towards the badges and challenge completion associated with the on-site visit. The subsequent recording can therefore be used as a memory, but it is not equivalent to certified on-site performance.

Repeat visit and offline submission

If your last on-site visit belongs to the same point, the app can reject the direct repeat with the message "Already visited". After an on-site visit to another point, the visit can be re-recorded at the original location. This does not mean that a repeat visit counts as a new different location in each collection.

Without internet, subsidized visit submissions may be placed on a waiting list. The map visit marker and progress are updated from the result confirmed by the server; the pending task is not an accepted visit by itself. You can check its status on the page "Settings → Developer log → Queue".

Browse Discovered Places

Access: Profile → "Discovered places". You can search the list, filter by category, and choose order by date or name. In the date view, the visits are grouped into months, the months can be collapsed.

Opening a location takes you to the map. You can edit or delete the comment of the visit in the row menu. Deleting a comment does not delete the entire visit. If there is no comment saving network, you may be put on a waiting list.

The default visit note can be entered in the field “Settings → Logs → Default check-in note”.

Collections and next milestone

Access: Profile → "My collections". The screen shows geocache collections and location collections separately. In order to progress, the relevant geocache, log or location data must also be downloaded; the page may show an indication of missing data.

Geocache collections can be linked to finds, geocache types, own hides, images or longer logos, among other things. Location collections are linked to categories, radio collections to callsign activation.

The details of an openable location collection show progress, the amount missing for the next milestone, and a list of related discovered locations. The list can be sorted by name or date, and a location can be opened on the map. The summary lines of the geocache collections do not all offer the same location detail page.

View badges

Access: Profile → "My badges". The interface shows earned badges; Tapping on a badge opens its details and available acquisition data. The Profile can display the latest badges separately.

When a new badge is acquired, the application may show a notification window. The source of the badge can be geocache completion, location collection, radio activation or challenge. Interpret the conditions of the badge according to the accompanying description; mere map opening is not fulfillment.

My challenges

Access: main menu → "My challenges". A challenge card shows the task, time period, completion rate, and status. The status can be "Coming soon", "Live", "Ended" or "Completed".

The specific rule of the challenge determines what event counts: finding a geocache, visiting a site, a specific category or a unique location. A subsequent visit to "Earlier" is not a substitute for an on-site event. Challenges with on-site visits and challenges based on geocaching.hu logs are calculated from different data sources.
